About The Mirror Roars

A Mirror Roars is a collaborative art story project combining the concept of choose your own adventure stories, and a template that serves as an interactive playground for artists to explore and create.

If you read the story you will notice that there are links within it that lead to different places, there are also multiple adventure choices, that can inspire changes in outcomes, sort of like plot direction Mad libs or a text version of the surrealist picture drawing game: the exquisite corpse.

Are you inspired?  Want to illustrate something in the story, or continue the story? You are invited to join the project!  This is a great way to get exposure and connect and collaborate with other creators!

Send content to Honkforart@gmail.com there are many ways to contribute

How does it work? Read the story, you will see that you can choose your own adventure. At certain points you will be given options to choose what happens next, there may be two or three different options to take the story in a new plot direction. You can create a new direction at one of these places or you can suggest a new plot direction option anywhere in the story.

This story is a tree with many branches, time lines, and journeys, and the direction of the plot is based on the content. If you summit a new plot twist or story, check back later to see if someone has added to your plot, or created images to illustrate parts of your story.

As the story expands it will grow creating more space for different types of interpretations on written content and illustrations, you also have the option to submit an image or story that is inspired by an image.

We hope you will explore, enjoy, interact and submit!

About the creator: Hank is an NYC based artist who does all kinds of interesting projects.

Some thoughts from Hank:

There are many interesting new territories this project ventures into. I want to inspire artists and creators to be comfortable collaborating.

Are we creating the story or is it building it’s self through us? Sometimes certain information can only be explained through a story.  Illustrations bring ideas and characters to life that evolve into new themes and ideas.

Some indigenous cultures have no written history, all history is passed down though elders repeating stories to younger people who keep the history alive. So storytelling creates community and strengthens social connections and growth.

I’m hoping that This project generates a supportive community. We can build collaborative relationships as we share our stories, images and reflections on what we see and experience in each other’s art and stories.
